Britnee Kind
Fort Stewart Chapter Lead: In 2014, Britnee founded the SD Gunner Fund, a nonprofit organization, with a mission to provide service and therapy dogs to veterans, first responders, and children with disabilities. In 2005 Britnee’s husband, Hamilton, was hit by an IED while serving in Iraq and suffered many traumatic injuries including Complete Nerve Damage and Severe Traumatic Brain Injury. Britnee founded SD Gunner Fund to help make service dogs more accessible to others in need after their own family’s struggle to get her husband a mobility service dog covered by insurance. In 2010,
Britnee’s husband retired from the United States Army and she became his full-time caregiver and advocate. She also formed Britnee Kinard, LLC where she consults with companies and speaks to organizations nationwide to educate and inspire, showing how critical courage is to live a life of impact and purpose while also raising awareness about military caregivers. In addition to speaking engagements, Britnee also offers programs to companies and organizations that feature education, training and resources on service dog laws, ADA service dog regulations, and HUD/FHA service dog and emotional support animals laws.

Why Support Military Spouses?
Lost Income Compounds Over Time
Military spouses faced a staggering 24% unemployment rate prior to the global pandemic. When military spouses are employed, they earn on average $12,000 less per year than their civilian counterparts despite having higher levels of college education. Your gift will remove a financial barrier to military spouses who want to pursue entrepreneurship as a sustainable career path.
Many Milspouses Thrive in Entrepreneurship
When military spouses enter the world of entrepreneurship, it provides income, flexibility, and a career that moves with them all over the world. In a 2020 survey with over 2,000 respondents conducted by The Rosie Network, over 50% of military spouse business owners report earning six-figure+ incomes.
